1) Sail! Thanks to my husband, I’ve been watching this video over and over. It’s funnier each time!
2) Apparently “Black Friday” was first used to describe the day after Thanksgiving in Philadelphia, PA, in 1961; officers working downtown used the term when dealing with frustrating traffic jams in the city due to the influx of shoppers. (The term has been used in other contexts, the earliest of which was associated with the financial crisis of 1869.) Thanks, Wikipedia! 🙂
3) A haiku to honor my love of oatmeal:
wholesome, filling grain
canvas for nuts, fruit, sweetness
bowl of perfection
4) Think you have a lot of holiday guests? Maybe so, but our furry houseguests will have more legs!
5) I thought Breaking Dawn Part II was terrible. I understand that screenplay writers use “artistic liberty” when adapting books—but the changes in this movie were mind-boggling!
6) Truth. This is my life, every weeknight.
7) This week is a 2-day work week. WOOOOHOOOO!!!! This is actually a blessing since the powers-that-be decided the best time to replace our staircase is right in the middle of our work day. I had to endure loud sawing noises, breathe life-shortening/cancerous (ok, maybe not) sawdust/insulation, and watch the monsoon that soaked our entire bottom floor when something crashed into the fire sprinkler. Yes, this is what happens when your company is too cheap to hire contractors and lets aircraft mechanics do the work. Just. One. More. Day.
8) The literature and philosophy nerd inside me loves Le Blog de Jean-Paul Sartre from The New Yorker.
9) I can’t wait to make this Sticky Toffee Pudding for Turkey Day.
10) My honeycrisp apple addition is still going strong. Pretty soon I’ll have eaten my weight in them, and I’m perfectly ok with that. Truth be told, I could probably stand to gain a little weight. Besides, they’re just so damn tasty.
Keeping with the tradition for this month: For day #18, I’m thankful to have people in my life with whom I can celebrate Thanksgiving and other holidays each year. For #19, I’m thankful Mark and I had the opportunity to go on vacation this year and see some of his extended family (whom I’ve met just once or twice).
Just a few more days until Thanksgiving! Have a great week, all.

No. No. No! I was hoping that this Twilight movie would actually be good, because the commercials looked amazing! I’m going to watch it this weekend with some friends. I was prepared for it to be cheesy, and for me to laugh at every scene that involves Bella and Edward… But I didn’t expect them to totally mess up the plot of the book!!
Oh well. I guess I should have expected it 😀

Keep an open mind. Everybody else I know loved the movie & thought it was the best one yet. I think I’m too much of a “purist” & expect the book/movie to be identical, which is impossible. Truthfully, now that I think of it outside of the context of book vs. film, it’s actually kind if cool what they did…& it makes sense (& not as much changed as I made it sound). I’ll shutup so I don’t give anything away & ruin it for you!
