I always love Wednesdays, but I’m especially fond of today. In exactly one week, I will be at Harry Potter World sipping butter beer and learning how to use a magic wand! 🙂
Another reason I’m particularly happy today is my achievement of a small fitness goal. Last Thursday, Sunday, and yesterday, I ran a mile without stopping. Though Sunday’s run was pretty exhausting (I was mentally preparing for Super Bowl junk food inhalation, I suppose), yesterday I felt really strong. It was beginning to get dark, so while I felt like I could’ve continued running at least another half mile, I stopped just over 1 mile and walked a lap before heading home.
I’m not going to jump to any conclusions, but you might say I—gasp!—enjoyed my run. While I have no desire to run marathons—or even half-marathons—I feel comfortable enough with my progress to go ahead and sign up for Color Me Rad.
I truly feel my wiser food choices (steering clear of vending machines at work and cooking at home) have helped fuel my return to exercise. Though it’s been years since I’ve eaten a microwave meal or snacked on potato chips and cookies at my desk, I haven’t been consuming nearly as many vegetables as I should. Since this month’s What I Ate Wednesday is all about the veggie love, I’m going to make a better effort to eat my recommended daily servings—whether in meal-sized salads, smoothies, or snacks—and take my exercising to the next level.
Forgive this week’s lack of veggie consumption—it’s only temporary!
Greek yogurt bowls (topped with cereal, fresh and/or dried fruit, and nut butter) and Ezekiel cinnamon-raisin toast (topped with Artisana cashew butter) have become breakfast staples.Though I did gobble a piece of king cake instead of an apple yesterday afternoon, most of my snacks have been healthy: peanut butter-filled celery, carrots with ranch dressing, and small handfuls of nuts. And I chose the apple today.
Yesterday’s lunch included leftover red beans and rice (there are vegetables in there, I promise). Last night’s post-run dinner included a satiating salad with baby spinach, curried chickpeas, hard-boiled egg, and pumpkin seeds—with a Purple Haze on the side.
I know I may not make the best meal choices the next week (Endymion, a 10-hour road trip to visit family, and Disney World), but I’m ok with that. Vacations and indulgence go hand in hand, and that’s completely healthy.
Now I’m off to gymnastics…

Well I hope your experience is better than ours was when we went to Hogwarts. The butter beer was amazing, but the crowds, we couldn’t move. There was so many people we couldn’t even get into the couple of shops there, was so disappointed. I did wait in line for a wand, and that was a wait. However we did find on our way out of the resort a store that sold everything we missed out on. I even got a Harry Potter cape, cost me over a hundred bucks but is a treasured treasure along with my wand.
Have a good time, take your patience!!

Aw, that’s a bummer you had to deal with the big crowds (but at least you got your cape!). I’m *hoping* it’s not that bad when we’re there since February is kind of off-season. I’ll definitely remember to be patient, though! Thanks for the info.
