This past Saturday I (mostly) ran my second 5K—Tunnel Vision—hosted by the Lions Club. It was freezing (for coastal Alabama…in May), but it couldn’t have been a more gorgeous day!
We began near the downtown library and ran down Government Street through the tunnel and onto the causeway. Thankfully, I didn’t feel too claustrophobic in the tunnel (which is much more inclined than it appears), and I’m proud to have run the whole way to the causeway. I walked for a few short intervals (lets just say I was taking in the beautiful Bay scenery) but finished strong on the bridge that led to the finish at Tacky Jack’s.
My time was approximately 31.50 minutes; not too bad considering I haven’t run since Color Me Rad 2 weeks ago.
I enjoyed it so much that I think I’m going to sign up for the Freedom Run on May 18th that’s just a hop, skip, and jump from my house.
Post-run, Mark and I were starving—so we drove back downtown and had breakfast at Spot of Tea. I decided carbs were the best way to refuel and enjoyed a pecan waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon.
We walked around Market in the Square—and bought some delicious local honey—before heading back home to clean up.
We ran a few errands, saw Iron Man 3, and bought groceries for Sunday’s Mexican feast. (Is it sad that we spent as much on alcohol as we did food? In our defense, both our beer fridge and wine cabinet were pretty empty, and since we don’t often drink liquor, we needed tequila for margaritas).
Sunday I let Mark sleep late since he so kindly watched me run Saturday, and we relaxed and cleaned the rest of the day.
Dinner included tacos, margaritas, and the black bean salad I shared yesterday. Yum.
The weekend flew by—but the week’s off to a great start with more gorgeous weather. Happy Monday—and have a marvelous week.

How did you like Iron Man 3? Is it worth full price or the dollar theater?
That probably makes me a bad person that I asked about that first. Lol.
You did so great on that 5k! Definitely impressive that you haven’t ran in 2 weeks. 🙂

Thanks! I know if I want to run the WHOLE way, I must run more often.
I thought Iron Man 3 was pretty good. It was worth full price, especially if u really like that genre of movie. (And you’re definitely not a bad person…I weigh “theater vs. wait for netflix” all the time!) 🙂
