Mondays never cease to creep up, do they? At least today—and the preceding weekend—was a pretty marvelous one.
Saturday I decided to sleep in (well, try to—my body just couldn’t lie in bed past 8:00 or so) and skip yoga. I did spend some quality time cuddling in the chair with Iggy, so it was all good.
Later in the afternoon, we drove downtown for the 16th annual Dauphin Street Beer Festival.
Over 100 beers are available for tasting at participating bars and restaurants. Even though Mark and I have had most of the selections before, it’s always a fun time—and we’re guaranteed to run into several old friends, professors, and classmates.
Thankfully, the skies were a bit overcast, making the day much cooler than previous ones.
We began at T. P. Crockmier’s where I had my favorite beer of the night: Blue Pants Brewery‘s Knickerbocker Red. The fact that it’s brewed in-state (Madison, AL) helped. It’s just a simple American style red ale, but it was pretty tasty.
The worst beer of the night? Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat. Ugh! Honey Crisp apples are my absolute favorite, but this tasted like a green apple Jolly Rancher in the worst possible way.
I have to say, those 2-ounce samples really add up, especially when you’re catching up with old friends whom you haven’t seen in ages, re-filling your mug at the same tap over and over and over…
Sunday was pretty low-key. We bought groceries and did some laundry before I went to yoga (great class!) and cooked some dinner.
Today was gloriously sunny and much less humid than it has been. I enjoyed a nice long walk and some quality gator-watching. Charlie apparently has a sister (wife? daughter?) that I’ve ever-so-creatively named Charlene.
Now I’m cooling down from another night at Bikram—and inhaling a giant piece of frittata (one of my new food addictions).
Have a marvelous night, everyone!
