Hello there!
Once again it’s Monday—and the end of yet another month. Is it just me, or has this year flown by?
It seems like just a few days ago Mark and I were planning our Disney trip, celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and sweating away the summer. While it’s still pretty warm, I just can’t believe that it’s the end of September. No worries, though, because October marks the beginning of my favorite time of the year!
Just a few things that make for a marvelous Monday:
Marvelous…is an endless supply of delicious beer.
Saturday morning, we drove into Abita Springs (en route to New Orleans) and took the free Abita brewery tour for the billionth time. Since it was the end of Louisiana Craft Beer Week, there was a special firkin of oak barrel-aged Pecan Harvest Ale (it was ok—kind of flat) and a test batch of next summer’s new release, Seersucker Summer Pilsner. The pilsner was darn tasty, but I also drank some of my favorites (Purple Haze, Pecan Harvest, and Satsuma Whit).
Marvelous…is free food to go along with free beer.
To accompany our tasting, there were several small mountains of cheese. The aged Gouda was my favorite, and the creamy chevre was a close second. Instead of having lunch at the brewpub, we inhaled some Turbo Dog jambalaya, which was fabulous. I can’t wait for us to recreate it at home.
Marvelous…is meeting our friends’ adorable baby for the first time.
If you know me, it’s obvious that I’m not a kid/baby person (I think children can smell my fear!). Since he was sleepy and well-fed, I actually held him for a few minutes. He’s so adorable and tiny, and I’m so glad we got to see the mom & dad, too.
Marvelous…is game-day attire for work.
Because it was overcast and cooler, I didn’t feel so goofy bringing out the Saints scarf at work. Here’s hoping the Saints pull off a win later tonight against Miami. WHO DAT?!
Marvelous…is the Breaking Bad series finale!!
I was on the edge of my seat (much like for the past few episodes), and I thought the writers did a fantastic job of wrapping things up (i.e., no open ends à la The Sopranos). Vince Gilligan is a genius—and I seriously have no complaints. One of (if not the) best shows I’ve ever watched, hands down.
That pretty much wraps up my weekend and Monday. Hope everybody has a great week!

Turbo dog jambalaya… whoa. That sounds like the ultimate take on Jambalaya, which is one of my favorite southern recipes ever!
That is a super cute scarf. I have yet to embrace the scarves fashion-wise but I think this fall/winter I need to 🙂

I guess it is the ultimate take ok jambalaya, since you sub part of the chicken stock for turbo dog beer. It’s one of my favorite southern foods, too!
I’m addicted to scarves, which is a shame b/c we get cold just a few months out of the year.
