1. Now that I’m back from my vacation, I’m ready for another. Hopefully we can take another mini-trip back to NOLA around Christmas. The hotels and streets are always so pretty when decorated for the holidays.
2. What happened to fall? Last week was wonderfully cool and crisp, but this week the humidity and 80-degree temperatures are back. Not cool, weather. Not cool.
3. We still have no Halloween plans—which makes me feel even more like an old lady. I miss dressing up—and decorating. We set out a decorative faux pumpkin and that’s it. Guess we’ll make up for it by going all out for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
4. I’m not sure what my parents did to our dog, Iggy, this past weekend, but whatever it was, thank you! Iggy was so tired from running around with his cousin, Sandy, that he slept (and let us sleep) until 10:30 Monday morning. This never happens! He even acted disinterested in his food (which he normally inhales in 0.4 seconds!), though he did finish it later.
5. I always seem to find amazing recipes on blogs, swearing that “I must make these!” only to forget them weeks later. I really mean it this time, though, after drooling over these adorable snicker doodle truffles from Running with Spoons. They seem like a great Christmas treat—but of course I’ll have to sample them before then.
6. My first Bikram class since last Thursday is tonight, and I’m kind of scared! I didn’t really drink a lot of water the last few days—and the vegetable-to-booze ratio was heavily skewed toward the latter. Pray for me! 😉
7. As excited as I am for an extra hour of sleep next weekend, I’m not thrilled for Daylight Saving Time ending this weekend. The good news is I won’t be stumbling into door frames on the way to the shower when I wake up in the mornings. Avoiding bruises FTW!
8. After over-imbibing in sazeracs this past weekend, I really want to attempt to make our own again. The last couple times we made them much too big, and we never could get the right amount of simple syrup down. They’re just so tasty—and our liquor cabinet is full of bottles we haven’t touched in probably a year.
9. I need to find a walking buddy for my lunch breaks. I feel like I’m the only health-minded person in my office (or on the whole facility) and it’s much nicer having somebody to talk to on my walks. I guess I could just start having conversations with myself (since people already think I’m weird)?
10. I enjoyed reading this article on wisdom. No more berating myself for not being one of those happy-all-the-damn-time girls. We all have bad days and good—but it’s all about the journey and what we take from it.
