1. This weekend we bought some flannel sheets, and I have to say, I’m in love. They’re so cozy and comfy and will be perfect for tonight’s freezing temperatures! (Iggy loves to burrow in them, too.) Bring on the cold!
2. I have a new favorite fall-inspired breakfast: pumpkin yogurt (simply plain—or vanilla—Greek with pumpkin purée mixed in) with a bit of pumpkin pie spice and extra cinnamon, topped with maple granola. Yum!
3. This is nice: 100 People You’ve Been at Some Point in Your Life. (Just ignore the few grammatical errors—I guess they no longer proof-read on this site!)
4. I have a nagging desire to do something different to my hair. I’m not sure I want to dye it because I like my natural color, but maybe some bangs and long layers à la Lea Michele? My hair isn’t quite that long—but it could be fun. (Of course, then I’d actually have to try to fix it in the mornings…)
5. I’m so happy to be busy at work again—you have no idea!!!—but it probably (definitely) means my blogging will be more sporadic (but hopefully more food-related). I just don’t want to stare at a computer screen any more than I have to.
6. I had a dream the other night that one of the alligators by work had learned to climb trees and was chasing me. Clearly I spend too much time there, and now I’m wondering what significance such a dream has in my life. Am I too aggressive? Is danger lurking? Or am I wrestling with my subconscious? Mark, since you’re into all that “psycho” stuff, you must have some insight (because he’s actually had people ask him, upon learning he’s a psychologist, if he can read minds and stuff…haha).
7. My husband also seems to think it’s acceptable to start decorating for Christmas. Sorry, but this is a battle you will lose, Mark!!! Give Thanksgiving its time in the spotlight—and we can decorate the following day.
8. Speaking of Thanksgiving—I need an idea for a side dish. Mark always makes his mashed potatoes (which are heavenly), but I have no idea what new, somewhat-healthy dish I want to make. Last year I roasted Brussels sprouts with apples (and they were tasty) and before that I roasted some acorn squash with a maple/orange glaze (they tasted fantastic but were undercooked). My mother always makes stuffing and sweet potato casserole, so I don’t want to infringe on those. Hmmm…
9. While we’re on the topic of food, doesn’t this cake look divine? Although I love fresh pineapple, I don’t really enjoy it in baked goods. Naturally, the use of ripe, seasonal pears in this upside down cake is right up my alley. Maybe I’ll make this for Thanksgiving breakfast/dessert?!!
10. How in the world is it almost 2014?!! Since I’ve recently begun entering purchase orders for our next group of product, most of the deliveries are set in 2014 (for which I keep typing 2013) or even 2015. I’m sorry, but didn’t we just begin 2013?!! Didn’t I just turn 29 and go to Disney World for Mardi Gras? Didn’t we just celebrate our 5th anniversary in April? Wasn’t it just a blazing hot summer? Agghhh!!!! They (whoever “they” may be) weren’t kidding when they said time moves quickly when you get older. Holy moly!
Happy Tuesday, friends. 🙂
