1. Well, it looks like I got my wish: Tuesday and Wednesday were “snow days” and work was cancelled. Since there was another hard freeze Wednesday night and ice is still pretty thick, we’re also closed today. The poor hubby has to go in at 11:00, though. (Edit: I *may* have to go into work at 1:00. We shall see.)
2. Now, before you start judging us Southerners, read this. We’re as prepared for a couple inches of snow and/or ice as you inland and northern residents are for hurricanes! It’s just too bad the forecasts for northern and central Alabama were so far off.
3. Our yard was so pretty—even if it was just ice accumulation (with a dusting of snow). Iggy didn’t know what to think (but he later ran around and seemed to enjoy it), and I’ve definitely come down with a case of “cabin fever.” I can’t stand being inside so long (which is why the kid in me kept going outside to play every so often). By the way, please pardon the lack of makeup in the above picture!
4. But enough snow talk. Since I didn’t participate in What I Ate Wednesday this week, here’s a picture of my Wednesday brunch. Bacon makes everything better!
5. And let’s not forget the day drinking. Tuesday afternoon included beer, while dinner included wine, hummus + carrots, and king cake ice cream. Cabin fever/ice storms make people me do crazy things (like eat ice cream for dinner). Moderation, right?
6. As much as I love winter, I’m actually looking forward to beach weather! I guess I don’t have to hope too much since it’s supposed to be 70º before the weekend’s over. Like they always say, if you don’t like the weather in Alabama, just wait 5 minutes!
7. Our crazy slow internet connection is making writing this post difficult! I guess the internet got cold—or perhaps everybody else in the neighborhood is surfing the web or watching Netflix. First World Problems, for sure.
8. While mindlessly surfing the internet, I did find a couple of birthday cake recipes (via Pinterest) that are going onto the short list. As I said before, chocolate is a given, but peanut butter, coffee, mint, or cookie dough are each fair game for the frosting/accoutrements.
9. I totally lied about no more snow talk. Of course I just had to get in a “snow-stand” (or more accurately, an “ice-stand”) for good measure.
10. And on that note, I’m going to go find something to keep me occupied: a good book, cuddling with the dog, or cleaning (even though it’s the last thing I want to do on my off day). Happy Thursday—and don’t forget to head on over to Running With Spoons for more Thinking Out Loud.

“Saved by the Kale”–I love it!
Yep, the weather is crazy in the South lately. Soon enough, though, we’ll be complaining about the heat and humidity! Thanks for stopping by.
