1. Is it just me, or has this week been crawling at a snail’s pace? Maybe it’s because I’ve had to work 5 days in a row after only working Monday and Friday of last week (due to snowpocalypse), but I’m dying for the weekend to get here!
2. Or maybe the slow pace of this week is my subconscious at work: it just feels like the week is dragging because I’m not ready to become an old lady! This will be my last weekend as a twenty-something (I guess I should update my gravatar profile on the side of the blog).
3. I’m only kidding about the old lady part. If I still do handstands with relative ease, am asked for ID at the liquor store, and fit into my 7th and 8th grade cheerleading uniforms, then I am far from old (so long as you overlook the grey hairs that are rapidly multiplying on top of my head). Plus I’m an absolute kid at heart!
4. It’s also comforting to know that my dear husband is only 6 months behind me. We can be old together (though you’ll always have more grey hair). 🙂
5. I had no intention of making this post completely self-centered and solely about my birthday. But since it’s a stream of a consciousness, I’m just going to roll with it and inform the foodiecology world that we’ve finally decided on a restaurant for my birthday/Valentine’s Day. A new French restaurant, Bistro Escoffier, opened in Midtown, and if the (small, but enticing) menu is any indication, then it’s going to be delicious. Too bad I have to wait another week (we’re going on the 15th, since they’re only open Wed-Sat for dinner).
6. But one thing I don’t have to wait for is Bill Maher this Saturday. While we watch Real Time every Friday night (it’s our old married couple ritual), we’ve never seen his live comedy. Hopefully it’s funny (but not too condescending toward us Bible Belt southerners).
7. Enough birthday talk—I’m stuck in a food rut. I keep finding and linking to awesome recipes each week, but I’ve yet to make anything new. While I’m prone to eat many of the same things for breakfast and lunch (because I enjoy my yogurt bowls, oatmeal, sandwiches, etc.), I like to change things up for dinner. Any suggestions? How do you keep your meals exciting?
8. I’m also in a fitness rut of sorts. While I still (emphatically!) love Bikram, I feel like I need to supplement it with something else. I’ve said a few times in the past that I want to start running again, but so far, that’s just been talk. Since we’re not going to be in NOLA for Endymion this year, I think I might sign up for the Joe Cain Classic 5K. It sounds like a lot of fun, and we could watch the parade afterward (a little history on Joe Cain).

9. By the way, I finally made a facebook page for the blog. Go like it—that’s an order! 🙂 And teach me how to use it. I spend way too much time on my personal page, but when it comes to promoting foodiecology, I’m clueless. Seriously, help me!
10. After that shameless self-promotion, I’m going to go. Be sure to visit the lovely Miss Spoons for more Thinking Out Loud—and happy Thursday! 🙂

If it makes you feel any better, today is Friday’s Friday, so that’s kind of something to smile about, right? 😀 And is it strange that I’m oddly excited about 30? I just celebrated my 29th about a month ago, but I really enjoy being the age I’m at right now. If someone gave me a free pass to go back to a younger age, I’m not sure I would take it. Unless it was to go back to being something like 7 years old, because those were good times 😀

Ooh, 7. I’d go back to that. But 22, 25, etc., no way. After my initial breakdown halfway through 29, I’m looking more forward to 30. Gotta take each year as they come I guess!
