I’m keeping this intro short, because right now I’m enjoying some quality family time in Mississippi with the in-laws (and doggies-in-law). Hope everybody is having a magnificent Sunday. I hope you all have a safe and happy Memorial Day, and let’s remember those who have served and sacrificed their lives.

Here’s another well-written, thoughtful, and relatable post from Gena; I’m always impressed with her ability to connect with her readers and write so eloquently about her experiences and thoughts.
Always Hungry? Here’s Why via The New York Times
I’ve always thought the whole overeating and weight gain was more cyclical than just one strictly causing the other. I also agree that cutting out heavily-processed, refined carbohydrates would be much more effective than cutting calories from fat (fat is important!) for weight loss and maintenance. As the article’s conclusion states, “addressing the underlying biological drive to overeat may make for a far more practical and effective solution to obesity than counting calories.”
Sensitive To Gluten? A Carb In Wheat May Be The Real Culprit via NPR
Interesting to read more about FODMAPs as opposed to “gluten-free.” I’m just glad I don’t seem to have any real food sensitivities!
Make Sure You Give Them Treats… via Mommy’s Getting Strong
Brilliant post, and exactly why I can’t wait till Baby M is born and old enough to start eating “real” foods (though I probably shouldn’t wish his early moments away!). I can’t wait to introduce him to delicious and nutritious fruits and veggies so that he learns to enjoy them at a young age. Good habits begin early in life.
The Vegetables Most Americans Eat Are Drowning in Salt And Fat via NPR
I do love some good ol’ fried potatoes, but I like to eat a variety of veggies. I need to do better about getting the recommended servings, though, even if it means more smoothies and lunch-portioned salads.

Thanks so much for the link, Catherine. I’m also glad you linked to the fat shaming article about female musicians, even if it’s totally dismaying. I may relink on Weekend Reading.
Happy Memorial Day XO

You’re welcome, Gena & thank you for the insightful post.
The fat-shaming article was very disheartening; I guess I’d expect something like that from Hollywood, but not opera where talent is (or should be) more important than looks.
