During a cardio barre class a few weeks ago, I noticed something: I sweat a lot!
This shouldn’t have come as a surprise for me, considering I used to practice Bikram yoga 3 times a week and would always return home looking like I’d run through a sprinkler.

I don’t know what it is, but during hard workouts, I sweat more than other women—and often more than men! (Sexy, I know.)
I guess it’s a good thing, though, because it means my body is working properly and I must be adequately hydrated. In this summer heat (we’re talking mid-90s with a heat index well over 100), it’s essential that I fuel my body properly.
If you struggle to drink enough water due to taste, try out this awesome hack that I discovered from Food52.
DIY Strawberry Water
Directions
- Wash and hull strawberries.
- Place the leafy tops (which would normally be discarded) into a glass jug or jar and cover with filtered water.
- Let sit in the refrigerator for a few hours; then pour into a glass and enjoy!
I imagine this would be delicious if paired with unflavored sparking water, too, although some of the carbonation might dissipate during the soaking time. If you’re after an all-natural electrolyte-boost, try using coconut water! Sometimes I’m not a fan of the commercial flavored varieties, but I could definitely get behind DIY strawberry coconut water.
- What’s your favorite way to stay hydrated?
- Do you like plain or flavored water?
