Hi folks!
I had a lovely little Valentine’s gift guide scheduled for Monday, but I didn’t quite get to finish it. Now it’s too close to the 14th to justify posting it.
You can pretty much do a Google search or head over to Pinterest and find about a zillion guides with the same old stuff, so no problem-o, right?
Valentine’s Day isn’t really a big deal to me or my husband. Even when we were dating—the young love birds that we were—we treated it as any other day, with perhaps a store bought card and maybe some chocolates to make it a little extra love-y.
But since I don’t have a post for today, I thought it would be fun to give you a list of what this working mom really wants for Valentine’s Day.
1. A massage
Ok, this one I did ask for (as a birthday gift—today is my birthday!) but I would gladly take more than one. Weekly would be nice, but who am I kidding? I can barely afford my gym membership, much less a weekly massage.
2. A professional house cleaning
I keep telling my mother that she needs to “donate” one of her cleaning “sessions” to me (her niece, who can’t really take on any more clients, has been cleaning her house every few weeks since last summer when my mom broke her ankle) but there’s been no such luck. One positive out of this? With all the dust and dirt we have on our floors, Bazooka is going to have one hell of an immune system!
3. A nap!
Sweet Baby Jesus, I just want to sleep. Uninterrupted. With the covers all to myself. With no snoring husband (I love you, bear!) no tossing-and-turning baby, and no ear-shaking dog who always, always, always lies down in between my legs instead of on the foot of the bed. Seriously, if I could have one thing in the world, it would be a weekend of the most amazing sleep EVER.
4. My boobs back
Heading into TMI-ville, but ever since we stopped nursing at the end of the year, it’s just been a sad, sad state of affairs.
5. This expensive concealer/highlighter…
…to cover up the dark circles that have made a permanent residence beneath my eyes (refer to #3).
6. A hot shower that remains hot
I don’t know if we’re just dumb, but does anybody else’s hot water heater struggle to keep up during the winter? Showers are literally my only “me time” apart from the gym, so I’d prefer them to remain hot the whole time.
7. A romantic night out…
…including fancy clothes, somebody to do my hair and makeup, transportation, a delicious 5-course meal with wine pairing, a show, and a night at a fancy hotel.
That’s it. Mostly practical, with a bit of romance for good measure. <3
