How was your weekend? I’d intended to have this published yesterday but didn’t sit down at the computer again.
Sunday was beautiful, but Friday and Saturday were CRUMMY with all the rain. We spent a good part of Saturday indoors, but we did manage to grab some Chipotle for lunch (Bazooka ate quite a bit of Mark’s burrito!) and hit the grocery store for an AWESOME dinner of filet (topped with herbed butter), roasted asparagus/carrots, and mashed potatoes.
Sunday was my sorority’s Founder’s Day celebration. This year marked 15 years since the chapter was established at my college, so I wanted to see some familiar faces and eat my share of crawfish at the boil.
We didn’t stay too long (it was SO hot!), but Bazooka enjoyed running around on the soccer field…and eating cake. 😉
Anyway, this intro got a lot longer than I’d planned—let’s move on to what I’m currently up to.
Reading // I’ve finished The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up from last month and am still working on The Five Love Languages (in case you care, I’m “quality time” and my husband is “acts of service”). I’ve got a huge list of books I want to read, so I need to make a trip to the library.
Watching // Jeopardy at the moment…but I’m so ready to get started on the new House of Cards season!
Listening to // the soundtrack from “Hamilton.” Mark and I are planning a NYC trip when fly up to Philadelphia for a wedding next year—how awesome would it be to see this show (even though I’m pretty sure it’s already sold out for January 2017)?!!
Needing // to schedule my massage. Pretty sure I said the same thing in January.
Loving // Daylight Savings Time!!! I wish I had that extra hour of sleep back, but it feels amazing to have sunlight at 6 PM (I’m basically a hermit during the winter.) Bring on the long days and sunshine!
Not Loving // this nagging cold or seasonal allergies I’m dealing with. I’m leaning towards allergies (even though I’ve never really had them) because the pollen is maddening and I feel pretty good, minus the congestion and red eyes. Ugh! I’m sick of coughing in the middle of the night.
Eating // spoonfuls of PB & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams while waiting for brinner (eggs, bacon, and toast) to cook (I’m typing this Monday night)
Drinking // ginger berry kombucha (from a wine glass because I’m fancy)
Craving // TRAVEL. It’s been so long since we’ve been on a legitimate vacation. We’ll be spending a few days at a beach house in late April, but I’ve been to the Gulf a bazillion times (not to say it won’t be relaxing and welcomed). I just need to see some place NEW. I’m craving adventure, I suppose.
Avoiding // making a dentist appointment. I found out last December that I have a cracked tooth (I can’t even feel it) and need a crown, but I’m putting off the appointment because it’s so darn expensive. Why does dental insurance cover only half of big procedures? I’m planning to have it done in a few months when I pay off my car.
Happy about // some upcoming—and BIG—changes to the blog. I’m really nervous because I am technologically-challenged, but let’s just say that I’m finally going to make the move over to self-hosted. Even more, I will be saying au revoir to the name foodiecology but bonjour! to something less limiting. I’m sure it’s going to be an EPIC mess, but I’m really excited. I’ll keep you guys apprised of the changes—and hopefully you’ll follow me after the move!
Looking forward to // meeting 2 beautiful baby girls. One of my good friends is having TWINS very soon! Once they get “settled,” we are planning to go visit and bring them food (and whatever else they need—how do you pack “sleep” and carry it across state lines?).
What are you currently watching? Listening to? Loving? Happy about?

Yay for going self-hosted! I am dragging my feet about it, but I hope to do that before the summer starts. Let me know how it goes!
My love language is quality time too. Terry’s is words of affirmation. I think it makes a real difference when we remember those.
I was really happy about daylights saving time too! I love having the sunshine later in the day. It means walks after dinner again!
I loved reading this, btw!

I’ll be sure to share – my goal was end of this month but I’m sure I’ll drag my feet more too. It’s scary.
Glad you liked reading it – I’m still trying to figure out a good balance of personal vs other content since I feel like my day to day life is so boring. 🙂

I just finished The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up last night 🙂 I really did love it. I might review it on my blog but I’m worried that that’s been overdone.
I am also waking up coughing in the middle of the night. Claire is “sick” again this week, for the 3rd time this year but I really think it’s just allergies/the seasons changing. It goes from pouring rain and super humid to dry as crap and hot here in a few days. That is not helping! Using a humidifier at night has been helping me some.
foodiecology says
I’m thinking of reviewing it, too. I’m still deciding.
I hope Claire gets to feeling better! It’s bad, of course for the baby, but it’s hard on mom and dad, too. Our weather is very bipolar here – I’m surprised we don’t stay sick.

Yay for self-hosting!! That is awesome! 🙂 Currently listening to a lot of songs by the 1975 and Florence and the Machine. Currently happy about easter coming up and being able to go home and see my family!
foodiecology says
Yay for Easter break! I love Florence and the Machine.

Whose wedding are you traveling up to Philly for next year? 😉
Also super anxious to get news about the twins, maybe they’ll be St. Patty’s day babies!
For your dentist visit, see if your dentist takes carecredit… it’s a medical credit card but for big purchases it offers 12 or 24 month no interest financing. I’ve used it for a bunch of stuff at the dentist and orthodontist and it’s great to ease the hit, you get separate no interest financing offers for each big transaction regardless of how long you’ve had the card open for (rather than the usual no interest promo rates that disappear after a year).
Oh and Leo and I are always up for travel, just tell us when and where! Disney 2.0? 🙂
foodiecology says
You mean you don’t know? It’s going to be THE wedding of the century! 😉
I’ll have to look into that card. Thankfully we’ve been able to get no-interest monthly payments for one of Luca’s big bills…adulting sucks.
foodiecology says
Oh, and yes please to Disney 2.0!!!
Sarah says
Also, I guess I spoke too soon on the St. Patty’s day babies! I laughed yesterday afternoon when I got the text that they were coming.just a few hours after writing that!
foodiecology says
Yeah, I like to think I had something to do with it since I mentioned it on here! 😉

Eating spoonfuls of peanut butter is definitely a fun current activity. 🙂 Loving: really just understanding what God’s love means. I think I misunderstood it for so many years, and now I feel like a little kid re-learning it all. . . So deep, so wide, so broad, so high… 🙁 And tis the season for sickness. 🙁 Hope you feel better soon!!
foodiecology says
Thanks, Emily. I feel like I’m already on the mend (it was probably the peanut butter). 😉

I’m a sorority woman too! That’s so cool you can stay involved. I’m currently happy to have just come home from a beautiful day at the beach 🙂
foodiecology says
I miss the beach! (And I live less than 2 hours away.) glad you got to enjoy it!
I’m always happy to hear about other bloggers who were in a sorority. I wish I could do more with our alum chapter.
