Hi, my name is Catherine and I am addicted to food blogs.
No really, the amount of time I spend scrolling and “double-tapping” impeccably-staged food photos on Instagram is appalling.
I learned early on that I’ll never be a food blogger—I’m pretty awful at photography and, as my husband knows firsthand, I am not creative or coordinated in the kitchen (just ask him about pea puree and pan-seared salmon). 😉
However, as poor as my own skills are, that doesn’t mean I am not a foodie at heart. Because I love food almost as much as my firstborn (sort of exaggerating?), I can recognize a good thing when I see it—like these 6 new (to me) food bloggers I think you should follow!
I actually discovered Ashley’s blog randomly through a fitness post somebody shared (I think?), but I’ve definitely stayed around for the food and “conversation.” As a former gymnast, I think it’s really cool that her “day job” background is in designing dance/gymnastics/activewear. The variety on her blog is refreshing for an “eat-everything-a-tarian” like myself, and her growing collection of nut butters makes me swoon!
How do college students do it? When I was in college, I survived on my campus center’s salad and sandwich bar, mozzarella sticks from “The Cloister” (so good!), and boxed mac & cheese in our on-campus apartment. Well, Emilie is a college student who does it all—she’s the newly-crowned Miss LSU and the creator of mouthwatering vegan dishes. Her photography is pretty stellar, and I can only imagine her future success if she keeps producing such great work. Even if you’re the staunchest critic of vegan food, her Vegan Parmesan Cauliflower Steaks and Vegan Apple Pie Bars should make a believer out of you.
I love the fun play on Alexa’s last name—Peduzzi. But more than that, I love her conversational writing style, crisp photography, and healthy, yet familiar, recipes (anybody who can combine my two favorite foods—sushi and burrito bowls—into one lovely creation is a winner in my book!). Not to mention that she has every food blog-lover’s dream job: part-time assistant to Jessica Merchant from the highly successful blog, How Sweet It Is. #jealous
Christina is co-founder of the BGB Community (Bloggers Gonna Blog) that I’m part of, and her energy and creativity in this little realm is contagious. I like how most of her recipes use “normal” ingredients and aren’t pretentious like some out there. Her food is healthy in the sense that it consists of real, whole foods, but none of her recipes are the slightest bit restrictive or boring. I’m dying to try her savory Cuban Quesadillas, and her Braised Beef Short Rib Tacos were delicious as our Cinco de Mayo meal last week.
Is this not the best blog name ever? I can’t think of two more important things in life besides love and food. Looking back, the recipe that really drew me into Leah’s lovely blog was this vibrant Rosemary Orange Galette—it’s just something I would never have thought of! A few of her recipes that I’ve perused contain certain ingredients that I would not ordinarily combine—like these Coffee Cardamom Bliss Balls. Now that Leah’s blog is on my radar, I’m so curious to see what else she comes up with.
Lucia’s blog is the newest of the new to me—but I foresee myself hanging around for a while. For having begun her blog as recently as May 2015, she already has an impressive collection of recipes: to-die-for desserts and baked goods (how about these Meyer Lemon and White Chocolate Scones?) as well as a few main dishes, smoothies, salads, and interesting sides like this Roasted Pineapple Guacamole. Yum!
So, there you have it: 6 up-and-coming food bloggers you need to add to your reader. I guarantee your kitchen will be a happy place if experiment with some of their offerings.

These are great ones! I admire the photography so much. My favorite food blogger is probably Kylie @ Immaeatthat simply because I love reading her stories too. I think she does a great job combining healthy and indulgent.

I’ve been reading Kylie’s blog for years – totally agree! She’s definitely one of my favorites.

I love all of these girls blogs, except I haven’t heard of the Foodwright yet.
And girl, I am with YOU 100% on being bad with a camera. I do like taking pictures, but I just don’t have the eye. I’m still attempting a few recipes here and there, but… I won’t ever be a full foodie blogger. I’ll leave it up to those gals. 🙂 I also love Amanda @ Running with Spoons and Kat @ Katalyst Health.
foodiecology says
Yeah, sometimes i just tell myself “the world has enough food bloggers” haha. That way i don’t feel too bad. I’m a big fan of Spoons, too, but I’ve only recently come across Katalyst Health. I’ll have to visit again.
Kristy @ Southern In Law says
I follow all but one (until now!) of these ladies and they’re all fabulous!
I just like to share recipes and pretend I’m a food blogger, ha! 😉 xo

Yes, they are!
Haha, I think you’re more of a food blogger than you give yourself credit for!
Ashley @ Fit Mitten Kitchen says
You are TOO kind Catherine!! Thank you so much. And I feel like you honestly described all of us so well! I have not checked out The Foodwright yet but definitely will now. And I didn’t know you were a former gymnast! 🙂 so cool.

You’re welcome, Ashley. I’m glad I was able to introduce you to a new blog in the process. Keep churning out the awesome recipes! 🙂
