Hey guys! I’m switching things up and coming at you on a Saturday because today, June 11, is the kick off for a promotional event I want to tell you about.
Recently I was given an electronic copy of Your Holistically Hot Transformation by Marissa Vicario to review, and I have to say her down-to-earth and no-nonsense views on what it means to eat and live healthfully were refreshing!
A little bit about Marissa
Marissa is a NYC-based health coach who earned her certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN).
She began her journey several years ago after experiencing dissatisfaction in her corporate job and relationships before realizing that her lifestyle wasn’t sustainable.
Her personal transformation—learning to cook, realizing that healthy doesn’t equal deprivation—led to her desire to share that knowledge with others.
Marissa and I “met” virtually through a “blog hop” last October, and I’m flattered that she contacted me to review her first book. I love reading about health and wellness, so of course I was thrilled to promote something I believe in.
First things first, what does it mean to be “holistically hot?”
Well, the great thing is—”holistically hot” is different for everybody.
Essentially, “holistically hot” boils down to three things: what you put in your body, how you take care of yourself, and what you believe about yourself.
It’s less about rigid rules and more about discovering and respecting your body, spirt, and mind.
What can you expect from the book?
Marissa begins with an introduction and some insight into why she chose to become a health coach in the first place.
She moves on to explaining more about how the body works—things like digestion and immunity, food as fuel, etc—and how small changes can lead to big shifts.
She shares insight into her own methods of cooking and stocking her pantry, how to overcome sugar addiction, and understanding the connection between food and mood.
In the last few chapters, she encourages readers to look beyond food by establishing a sustainable lifestyle that involves self-care, moderation, and conscious living. It’s this message I feel is the most valuable.
Final thoughts + something for you!
Marissa does a great job at sharing her own personal experiences as well as making the scientific thought behind nutrition understandable to the “normal” reader. When I was reading, I felt like I was talking to a friend (who knew a heck of a lot about health and nutrition, of course). She wants you to know you are not alone on your health journey!

**I was provided with a free PDF copy of Your Holistically Hot Transformation, but I was not compensated for this blog post. As always, all opinions are my own.**
So tell me…
- What is your personal definition of “holistically hot?”
- What is one thing about the diet/health industry that irritates you?
- Have you ever been to (or would consider going to) a health coach?
