Hey friends! It’s been a while since I’ve really “talked” to you guys. Apart from Tuesday’s post, I just haven’t spent much time in front of the computer. At least not for fun.
I’ve been crazy busy at work, and I’m actually enjoying the steady flow and feeling like I’m accomplishing something. Now that all of the audits (yep, we had like 4 different ones going on at once) are over and I can breathe, I can hopefully get back on track with this little space.
Truth be told, I think I experienced some burn out after devoting so much time and energy into getting the new site up and running. I was “blog this, blog that” for so long, that I think I lost misplaced a bit of my passion. But have no fear…I’m ready to get back into the groove!
Before I get too rambly, I think it’s a good time to dive into another “Currently” post to catch up with you guys. You can check out previous months here.

Currently // August 2016
Reading // I’m just getting into The Night Circus*. I also finished The Violets of March a few weeks ago; it was a quick read, but I enjoyed trying to guess how all the stories were interwoven.
Watching // THE OLYMPICS. As much as I love the Olympics, I’m kind of ready for them to be over so I can go to bed at a reasonable (read: old lady) time! I keep staying up to watch my favorite events.
Listening to // Mostly just NPR to and from work. I haven’t even taken the time to listen to podcasts at work this last week. Makes mental note to change that tomorrow.
Needing // To start using my planner again for blogging. I want to try to get back to (some semblance of) a “schedule,” but I need to plan out some content and do some brainstorming.
Loving // Baby cuddles! This past weekend I was lucky enough to enjoy TWO of Bazooka’s naps in my arms. It’s rare these days that he stops for more than 3 seconds and allows me to cuddle him. I’m also loving obsessed with the new “stories” feature on Instagram (as seen below). Now I GET why so many people use/love Snapchat.
Not Loving // How hot and humid it’s been. I’m so ready for some cool, autumn weather!
Eating // I’ve been on a toast + sunbutter kick this week, but I might’ve eaten some Justin’s dark chocolate PB cups* on the way home today when I saw they were on sale. #sorrynotsorry
Drinking // Sparkling water (specifically this stuff), but I’m also sipping a small glass of wine at the moment.
Craving // Yoga. If I could figure out how to manage the TIME and the $$$, I would go back to my hot yoga studio. Maybe I should just start doing it at home.
Avoiding // Writing an article that’s due tomorrow. I am not avoiding it, per se, just putting it off a little longer.
Happy about // Mark’s birthday! The husband is 32 today! Now he can stop teasing me about being 32. Nah, he’ll just tease me about being 32 and 6 months… 😉
Looking forward to // Our “stay-cation” that’s coming up! The in-laws are going to watch Bazooka while Mark and I spend the night in a nice hotel downtown. I’m looking forward to yummy eats, relaxation by the pool, and perhaps a visit to the spa. Oh, and sleep. LOTS OF SLEEP.

So tell me…
- What are you currently up to?
- Do you have any “end of summer” plans?
Ellie says
I’m currently up to werkwerkwerkwerkwerk. Seriously whether it’s my full time gig or pursuing other passions, I’m doing a lot of that. I really am finding out what I love though, so although exhausting, it’s fun too!
Catherine says
Work isn’t so bad if it’s something you’re passionate about! Glad you’re able to have some fun, too!
Emily says
I totally want to hear how you do your ‘staycation.’ I would love to try that sometime, but I’m not sure it would work here.
I’ve been listening to NPR a lot too, and it is kind of a double edged sword for me; if it causes me to think about all the problems with the world I either start to get worried or I’m reminded that I can pray for the world. <3 It is good to know what to pray for and how to lift up those who are hurting.
Catherine says
NPR is my go-to because I find it to be balanced. I hear you, though – I try to stay away from too much news (even though it’s beneficial to know what’s going on in the world) because it can be so negative and disheartening. But…it’s also a good reminder to be grateful for our own situations and lift up others, just as you said. <3

I have not seen these Peanut Butter Cups….
We have tickets to see Ole Miss and FL in Orlando on Labor day! I’m pretty excited!
Catherine says
Oh, that game sounds like it will be so much fun!
You should get your hands on some of the PB cups. I think they’re better than Reese’s but of course they’re a bit more $.

I’ve missed your posts! I love those pb cups. And I would definitely try starting a yoga practice at home! Saves money and is super effective too. I love yoga with adrienne on youtube!
Catherine says
Aw, thanks, Alyssa. I’ve missed reading your posts (I’ll get caught up!) and commenting with you guys.
I need to look up that YouTube channel – thanks for the suggestion!

I can’t get enough of sun butter lately either! Your staycation sounds excitingggg! xo
Catherine says
Yeah, I’ve always liked sunbutter, but we eat even more of it now that my son is in a peanut-free daycare! 🙂

Justin’s PB cups are AMAZING!! Have a great weekend 🙂
Catherine says
Thanks Edye. Have a great weekend yourself.
Kate says
I stayed up way too late watching gymnastic so I understand your mixed feeling about the ending of the Olympics!
A staycation sounds amazing. It seems like it would be a little less stressful but still so fun. Have a great time!
Catherine says
Thanks, Kate! I’m most excited to sleep in a comfy hotel bed and eat at some new (to us) restaurants. And enjoy the pool, of course!

I just discovered sunbutter a few weeks ago and I love it! And I adore the idea of a staycation. My mom and I always talk about how our girls’ trips could really be staycations and we’d be totally fine with it. Exploring your own area can be just as fun as new places! Enjoy 😀
Catherine says
Yay for sunbutter! I think Chicago would be fantastic for a staycation!
