Well, guys. I’ve been talking about my partnership with Gerolsteiner for a few weeks now, and here we are over half way through the Sparkling Detox.
If I take one thing away from this challenge, I hope that it’s a new understanding of balance.
Truth be told, I feel like I’ve been very unbalanced lately.
Mentally, physically, emotionally—you name it.
That’s why I think the #sparklingdetox has come at a perfect time!
The Gerolsteiner Sparkling Detox
I hope some of you guys have been participating with me, but in case you’re not, here’s what the detox entails.
- I’ve been replacing all of my usual beverages (coffee, tap water, the occasional wine or beer, etc.) with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water.
- I am practicing my normal healthy routine of eating a variety of nutritious foods (and some indulgences in moderation) and exercising when my body needs it.
That’s basically it! For more information, tips on nutrition, recipes and exercises join our Sparkling Detox Facebook Group and other fellow detoxers.
My Thoughts On The Detox
Yes, this is probably the simplest “detox” I’ve come across. And, yet, I was a little scared to give up my caffeine and “adult beverages,” especially since this week started off rather sleepless.
I adore the taste of coffee, so not having that majestic cup of liquid gold in the mornings has been difficult.
Instead of turning to caffeine, I’ve begun some of my mornings with a nutrient-dense smoothie and a simple bottle of sparkling water. I think pure mineral water and a smoothie packed with antioxidant-rich berries and handfuls of nutritious veggies is the ultimate way to gain necessary energy to begin my day. Who needs caffeine?
Of course I have kept several bottles of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water on hand to enjoy throughout the day. I love the mild, refreshing taste, and while I found the carbonation to be a bit filling at first, I’ve been able to keep up with my hydration goals fairly easily.
Since I already drink water with most of my meals, replacing those beverages with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water hasn’t been difficult at all!
How do you refuel? #sparklingdetox @GerolsteinerUSA @fitapproach #sweatpink Share on XNow, the evenings have been a little tough, because that’s when I like to enjoy a glass or two of wine or perhaps a beer with dinner. Hence why I’ve enjoyed my sparkling water in a stemless wine glass. 😉
Focusing on Balance
Instead of worrying about what I’m missing, I’m reminding myself that it’s all about balance. Balancing pure, mineral-rich sparkling water with delicious, healthful foods that are already a vital part of my diet.
I’m anxious to see how being mindful about added sugars, caffeine, and alcohol while continuing to focus on my hydration affects my energy, anxiety, and focus after the challenge is complete!
The Sparkling Detox is not about deprivation or punishing your body. It’s about fueling your body properly and staying adequately hydrated for all of the activities you do!
It’s all about balance.
It's all about BALANCE. #sparklingdetox #sweatpink @fitapproach @gerolsteinerUSA Share on XBalance is achieved by adding to your life, not taking away from it. That’s why I’m adding Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water into my routine, so I can feel my best and rediscover what it means to be healthy and balanced.
So tell me…
- How do you define balance?
- Have you ever given up caffeine or added sugar for any length of time? What was your experience like?

I love that you highlight that balance is about ADDING not always subtracting. 🙂 Adding good sparkling mineral water sounds so good! And I probably define balance as a good amount of rest, work, lots of prayer, and learning to balance spiritual and physical nutrition, putting an emphasis on spiritual nutrition. 🙂

That sounds like the perfect definition of balance, Emily!

What is in your smoothie? Do you start with a protein powder?
I’m like you, I love the taste of coffee.
Catherine says
Yes, I usually use a protein powder. I’ll usually add a couple tablespoons of rolled oats (dry) to bulk it up or maybe a few spoons of Greek yogurt if I have some. Peanut butter often goes in, too, plus half a frozen banana, a small handful of spinach, a few slices of frozen zucchini, and some berries. Topped off with milk or sometimes juice.
Phyllis Henson says
Thanks for the information. Do you have a protein powder that you recommend?
?

I like Sunwarrior a lot.
