Hi there! How was your weekend? Ours wasn’t too bad—we spent Friday night at home, I watched Bazooka Saturday morning while Mark went to watch a soccer game downtown, and then I ran (and walked!) the 5K on the Runway Saturday evening. It was ok, but I realized I really hate running when I’m getting over a cold, have a random stomach ache, and haven’t been running in close to a year. Oops! I’m just kind of glad that one’s over. It was neat seeing the Airbus FAL close up, though. Sunday we slept (relatively) late, grocery shopped, baked some cupcakes for a coworker’s birthday, and had dinner at my parents’ house.
Anyway, September has absolutely FLOWN by—so quickly that I sort of forgot I usually do these “currently” updates mid-month. You may not care what I’m currently reading or looking forward to, but I like the ability to look back each month and see what I was up to. So without further ado…
Currently // September 2016
Reading // I just finished Still Alice (←affiliate link) by Lisa Genova. It was heartbreaking but I thought it was a fantastic portrayal of life with early onset Alzheimer’s. I want to watch the movie now.
I started reading Imperfect Birds by Anne Lammot, but the writing is pretty terrible (or I just can’t get into it), so I’m about to abandon ship and read That Night by Chevy Stevens.
Watching // How I Met Your Mother at the moment. I’m looking forward to October when The Walking Dead and other shows start back!
Listening to // The leaf blower while Mark does yard work. Seriously, though, I’ve mostly been listening to the news in the mornings and a few podcasts. What music isn’t completely terrible these days and what should I be listening to?!
Needing // To finish our meal plan for the week.
Loving // Cooler mornings. It’s still hot as Hades during the day, but the last few mornings have felt like a little taste of fall. <3
Not Loving // This lingering cold/allergies/sinus infection/WHATEVER it is that I have. I thought the runny nose a few weeks ago was a side effect of some medication I started taking, but when it resurfaced this past week, I realized it was something else. Seems like everybody at work has been dealing with the same thing.
Eating // Life cereal. I bought some for Bazooka (since he still only eats crunchy, carb-y things!) and can’t stop stuffing it into my face. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness!
Drinking // Coffee. So, going caffeine-free for 5 days wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be and I enjoyed the challenge, but I just really missed the taste and routine of having my morning coffee. It’s one thing to give up things that are bad for you, but it’s another to give up things that bring you joy. Needless to say, my single mug of coffee every morning brings me joy and I’m happy to have it back!
Craving // Sleep. We’re not getting good sleep lately (thanks to a sweet but active baby who keeps waking up in the middle of the night and spending the rest of the night with us), so yeah, I’m craving a solid 8-10 hours of it!
Avoiding // Cleaning. Always.
Happy about // Iggy feeling better. A couple weeks ago he hurt his back (or hip, something) running around with Bazooka, and I was so scared that he had a slipped disc or was going to need surgery (back problems are common in dachshunds). Luckily the vet seemed to think he was ok, and after about a week on anti-inflammatories, he is almost back to his normal self. We’re definitely not letting him jump off the bed and couches anymore, though!
Looking forward to // Bazooka’s birthday part in a couple of weeks! I still can’t believe he’s almost TWO YEARS OLD.
Coffee. 5Ks. Birthdays. See what else Catherine is #currently up to this September. Share on XSo tell me…

Currently not looking forward to anything as my life feels complete 🙂 I am reading stuff for school and race reports from the weekend so nothing fun. I definitely want to check out that book you mentioned 🙂
Catherine says
That’s always a great feeling to have! 🙂

I’m craving a good nights sleep as well. I haven’t had that in a while! I am always drinking coffee- lately it’s been pumpkin spice! And I love cold fall mornings- and fall in general 🙂
Catherine says
Here’s hoping we both get some good sleep soon!

I love How I met your Mother! I plowed through all of the seasons over summer. The last season sucks though 🙁
Did you watch Parks and Rec? That’s my all time favourite show.
I’m currently wishing summer would arrive (southern hemisphere dweller :P) because I want to wear shorts again!
Catherine says
Love Parks and Rec – although I’ve never sat down and watched it from the beginning/consecutively. And I agree about the last season of HIMYM. I still love watching earlier reruns though.

I also can’t wait for all the tv series to start back in October 😉 We are anxiously awaiting TWD and Supernatural 😛
Catherine says
Yay for TWD! I’ve never watched Supernatural though…may need to check it out.
