Oh hey there – it’s almost February and I’m just now catching up with y’all.
It’s been a busy month!
Mid-January we were in Philly (and NYC, for a day) for a wedding, and of course we did some sight-seeing and EATING, too. I missed Bazooka like crazy, but it was AMAZING to get away just the two of us and sleep late nearly every morning! And catch up with college friends. I definitely recommend the Loews in Center City if you’re ever visiting Philly, and Green Eggs Café had a killer brunch.
(Check out my Instagram for some Philly eats and a few scenes from the trip.)
As we head toward another month and my birthday (!!!), I thought I’d catch up on some life things with you guys.
Currently // January 2017
Reading // One Plus One* by Jojo Moyes. I loved Me Before You and After You, so I picked this one up at the dinky library near work since nothing else struck my fancy. I’ll let you know how it is once I read a bit more.
Watching // This Is Us (adore this show) + Fuller House (guilty pleasure)
Needing // To get back into a fitness routine. Yeah, I just talked about life lessons and how it’s ok to take it easy sometimes, but after our trip to Philly, I have just been lazy. I’m planning on easing back into BODYPUMP tonight and breaking in my new favorite shirt from Fabletics.*
Loving // How much Bazooka is enjoying is new “big boy” bed. Last week we converted his crib into a full size bed and he slept like AN ANGEL that night. He’s been sleeping really well in it the last few days and it’s much easier to put him to bed, too. #winning
Not Loving // The current political climate. I won’t say much here (this is a happy, inclusive place LOL), but you can read this and this over at Thirty On Tap (I recently became a contributing writer there) for some insight.
Eating // Red meat! We had hamburgers Saturday night, and for whatever weird reason, I was craving chili on Sunday (NO—I’m not pregnant). I also can’t keep my hands off some king cake-inspired cookies I made Sunday that I plan to share with you guys closer to Mardi Gras. They’re so EASY and require minimal ingredients!
Drinking // Wine…always wine. And ‘booch. I recently found a new semi-local brand and got to visit a kombucha taproom in Philly called Inspired Brews Fermentary. They had many interesting flavors.
Craving // A good creamy pasta or some roasted cauliflower. More randomness, right? Maybe I should kill two birds and make this roasted cauliflower mac & cheese.
Avoiding // Nothing really…although I DO need to get my car serviced. Remind me to make an appointment! 😉
Happy about // A positive change at work 🙂
Looking forward to // My birthday…it’s less than 2 weeks away! A few years ago, I was dreading the thought of turning 30, but now, I’m embracing 33. Age is relative to how we FEEL about ourselves and our place in life. I’m excited to grow older, experience more of what life has to offer, and watch my sweet Bazooka grow up into the little person he’s meant to be.

So tell me…
- Where’s the last fun place you traveled?
- Do you eat red meat?
- What’s one thing you’re loving lately? Looking forward to? Avoiding?

Me Before You is such a tear jerker but it’s good. Just warning you since you have those pregnancy hormones to deal with ?

I’m staying up too late tonight to watch This Is Us. For some reason they pushed it back to 10! Totally past my bed time, but I’m really into this show right now!
Catherine says
That’s past my bedtime too, haha. But it’s such a great show!
