Hi there! How’s your Thursday going?
August is almost over, and I’m not exactly sad. Summer just isn’t the same when you work year-round!
Anyway, I thought I’d take a break from my melodramatic and/or psychoanalyzing deep thinking today and share what’s going on currently.
Currently // August 2017
Reading // Daring Greatly* — Brené Brown is basically my spirit animal and most favorite person ever, except I hate how she gets into my head and writes books specifically for me. 😀
Watching // Forged in Fire — so cool to watch the knife crafters at work! But we also recently finished a great show called Atypical about a teenager with high-functioning autism. Ozark was good, too — I’ve always loved Laura Linney and Jason Bateman was pretty good in this, too.
Listening to // The Head and the Heart. They were my favorite a couple years ago, and lately I’ve been feeling their early stuff.
Needing // To visit my aunt. She has cancer and is under hospice care, and I need to go spend some time with her and my cousins.
Loving // All the fun eclipse photos! We had about 80% coverage in my area so it was a little less exciting than I’d anticipated, but it was still fun to feel the temperature drop a few degrees and see it get a little darker. Plus I’m sexy stuff in my solar lenses — well, minus the random duck face and bright red complexion!
Not loving // How sore my legs are from the gym Tuesday night! Walking lunges are killer — but they are worth it, I guess!
Eating // Same old, same old (smoothies, sandwiches, etc.) — though I am still dreaming about our dinner from Dumbwaiter on the Hill this past weekend. The house-made pork rinds were interesting, but the crab beignets would be delicious right now.
Drinking // Sparkling mineral water, yo! I’m doing the Gerolsteiner #sparklingdetox again in September, and you can register yourself here and have a chance to win your own box of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water. In case you were curious, I’m also a master at product placement — just ask my butt. 😉
Craving // Besides crab beignets, I guess some really good ice cream or a nectar cream vanilla snoball from NOLA.
Avoiding // Should I remove this question? I am not deliberately avoiding anything, but I guess I’m always sort of procrastinating housework (because chores suck). After having a run-in with a huge spider next to my bare feet, I’m actively avoiding arachnids. Whyyyyy are they so damn scary?!
Happy about // Having ANOTHER massage scheduled for this weekend. I finally used my gift card several weeks ago, and like the pushover that I am, I let them convince me to sign up for a 3-month membership. Time to get my #selfcare on!
Looking forward to // BEACH TRIP!!!! I have a feeling we will need a vacation from our vacation when it’s all over (6 adults + 4 kids = at least we outnumber them!) but I can’t wait to enjoy some (hopefully) beautiful weather, good food, GREAT friends, and fun in the sun. And I am so excited to take this baby* for a dip in the Gulf.

So fun about your beach trip! Best thing I drank this week? Matcha latte! Best thing I ate? Salad from whole foods with my fav tofu!

The inflatable unicorn is so cute hehe, and omg those cravings!!! NOLA was one of the best food havens I’ve ever visited, and I miss it so much. (I’m all the way in NYC haha). Also I so relate to the intense soreness annoyance. Like it’s good, but like, when you’ve been working out for a while and you’re used to doing it on the reg, it’s like, seriously?? Why are you suddenly sore?? Have a great beach trip!!
Catherine says
I’d consider NYC a major food haven too! 🙂

I love your post format. I’m avoiding alcohol at the moment, I’m binge watching “House of Cards” and I am honestly a bit addicted right now. The best thing I ate this week was a Ferrero Roché! So yummy! And I know how you feel about being sore. My hamstrings and gluteus are killing me today! Have a great time at the beach!

House of Cards is soooo good. I want to rewatch all seasons after finishing up this last one. 🙂
